About me
Hi! My name is Lara and I'm a filmmaker and photographer based in Miami and bound to a passion I have for moving people through the art of documentary film.
From a Cuban ballerina dancing herself toward a new life in Lisbon to a Ghanaian village chief gifting a few pearls of his finest wisdom, I'm grateful to all the people I've met along life's journey who have willingly welcomed my desire to document and share their stories.
Having studied photojournalism at UF and later documentary film-making with Erasmus Mundus as a Docnomad, I've had ample opportunity to write, film and edit short-form documentaries in Belgium, Ghana, Hungary, Peru, Portugal and the U.S., collaborating with national and international philanthropic organizations like Bike & Build, Saha Global and Food Not Bombs along the way.
In addition to these experiences, I've also contributed as a photographer, writer and videographer to publications such as the Independent Florida Alligator, the North Florida Herald, Orange and Blue Magazine, the Orlando Sentinel, the Miami New Times and Talking Eyes Media.
Consider me at your service for any ideas, events or collab opportunities in the Miami area and beyond or drop me a line at lhickox52@gmail.com
